Heavyweight Nonwoven Geotextile

NTPEP APPROVED - GTX-2016-01-103. US 300NW is a nonwoven needlepunched geotextile made of 100% polypropylene staple filaments. US 300NW resists ultraviolet and biological deterioration, rotting, naturally encountered basics and acids. Polypropylene is stable within a pH range of 2 to 13. US 300NW meets the following M.A.R.V. values except where noted:

US Fabrics' heavy weight nonwoven geotextiles (10 oz. to 16 oz.) are made from staple filaments of polypropylene fiber and are needlepunched and heat set.

A heavy weight nonwoven geotextile can be used as a geomembrane cushion in civil applications such as retention/detention ponds. Placing a nonwoven geotextile above or below the impermeable geomembrane helps protect it from punctures. They are also effective for permanent erosion control applications utilizing large rip-rap and/or requiring extreme drop heights. Heavy weight nonwoven geotextiles are also used for railroad stabilization. When placed under track, heavyweight nonwoven geotextiles prevent intermixing of the ballast with the soil below. And unlike a geogrid, they can withstand the abrasion.

The American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) recommends a 10-12 oz nonwoven geotextile for regular applications; a 12-16 oz nonwoven geotextile for heavy applications; and a 16-20 oz nonwoven geotextile for extra heavy applications.
